Dr. Gaede: Caring for Neighbors When it Matters Most

In a rural setting like Sheridan County, access to healthcare isn’t just about convenience—it can be the difference between getting care in time or waiting hours to be seen.

For Dr. Gaede, that reality is what makes his work at AmberMed so meaningful.

Born and raised outside of Hoxie on his family’s farm/ranch, Dr. Gaede returned to western Kansas after completing medical school and residency. He joined AmberMed in 2023 and now cares for patients in the same community where he grew up.

“The road of life led me back,” he said.

What he values most about practicing in a rural setting is the continuity of care.

“I get to care for patients through every stage of their health,” he said. “From managing chronic conditions to helping them recover when they’re sick or injured.”

That connection often spans generations. As a family medicine physician, Dr. Gaede has cared for multiple members of the same families.

“On the same day, I might care for a grandparent in the morning and their grandchild in the afternoon,” he said. “You’re not just caring for patients—you’re caring for neighbors.”

That community connection also shapes how care is delivered. Because many patients would otherwise need to travel hours to see a specialist, Dr. Gaede and the AmberMed team work to provide as much care as possible locally.

“We manage a wide variety of conditions right here,” he said. “We do as much as we can before referring patients, because we know traveling for care can be difficult.”

In emergency situations, that proximity can be critical.

“Time matters,” he said. “Having care close to home can make all the difference.”

Dr. Gaede credits the AmberMed team for creating a strong, patient-centered environment.

“Everyone here is focused on what’s best for the patient,” he said. “That shows up every day.”
