About AmberMed

A resilient history of serving rural Kansans.

AmberMed is the embodiment of the independent spirit of the rural Kansans we serve. We’re dedicated to improving lives and bringing innovation in healthcare to people “way out here.”

Our Story

Located on the high plains of western Kansas, Sheridan County Hospital opened in Hoxie in 1952.

Today, the five-fold facility boasts an 18-bed critical access hospital and attached federally qualified health center, a 32-bed long-term care unit, a dental clinic, and an innovative mobile clinic.

Our core philosophy is grounded in the values we share that make life great here—trust, hard work, and the same independent spirit that inspired the people who first came to this area. Those resilient settlers put down roots and raised up families. Driven by ingenuity and their dreams, they took care of each other as they made their new life prosperous.

In that same vein, we are innovating brilliant new ways to deliver personalized health services in harmony with our wide open spaces through our AmberMed Mobile Clinic.

Our Mission

To excel at providing quality healthcare close to home.

Our Vision

Strengthening all relationships by providing exceptional healthcare from the heart.
